4: The 10 Universal Laws to Optimal Nutrition
Tuesday Feb 16, 2021
Tuesday Feb 16, 2021
- Stick to fresh/frozen, real, whole foods and avoid packaged, processed food
- Incorporate some form of intermittent fasting regularly and occasionally longer periods of fasting
- Strive for high-quality properly raised/grown food (organic, non-gmo, wild, grass-fed, pasture-raised, etc.)
- Consume a wide array of colorful plants and spices (“eat the rainbow”)
- Avoid foods that cause inflammation in the body and be aware of how you feel after eating certain foods.
- Keep your blood sugar stable. Don’t over-consume high-glycemic foods (aka starches and sugars). Control glycemic variability.
- Whenever possible, stick to seasonal, locally grown foods. Some degree of variation in your diet is natural.
- Consume plenty of healthy fats and avoid processed vegetable oils & hydrogenated fats (more details on this later)
- Don’t overeat. Consume your food slowly and stop when you are full and satisfied, but NOT uncomfortably stuffed. Overly excessive food intake will lead to poor health outcomes even if it is healthy food.
- Make meal time sacred. Eat with your loved ones. Eat slowly. Enjoy every bite. Adopt an attitude of gratitude during your meals and appreciate the nourishment your body is receiving.

Do you ever get eye strain or headaches after being on your computer for long periods of time? If so, your not alone.
It’s extremely common for most people (myself included) to get eye strain, brain fog, headaches, etc. when staring at a laptop or computer monitor. One of the many reasons for this is that computer monitors actual flicker (as do most modern artificial lights) and that’s one of the many reasons why people get undesirable effects when spending long stretches of time on the computer.
There's even a name for this growing epidemic of eye issues and headaches caused by computers. It’s called computer vision syndrome and can actually cause serious long term damage to your eyes.
My guest on today's show is the perfect person to talk to about this because he’s actually created software to help overcome this issue. His name is Daniel Georgiev and he’s the creator of a software you may of heard of before, heck some of you many already use it, called IRIS.
Daniel started out as a rowing champion with about 6 years of training and a few medals under his belt. Then he started working for a software company but he wasn’t satisfied with the work and had lots of trouble with eye pain and strain. That’s where the idea for Iris came from. The software is now being used by more than 2 million users all over the world and is the most popular health tech software currently.

There is so much talk about diet and nutrition these days. Literally thousands of books have been written about which diets are best and why, but one aspect to nutrition and health that's been gaining more and more attention is not what to eat, but rather WHEN TO EAT and the benefits of not eating anything at all for extended periods of time. I’m referring to fasting!
I’m super excited to have with me Siim Land Author of the book “Metabolic Autophagy” and we are going to be taking a deep dive today into the topic of fasting.
Siim is an author, speaker, content creator, and high-performance coach from Estonia. He writes articles and makes videos about optimizing health, body composition, and wellness with different biohacking techniques.
Despite his young age, Siim's written several books about fasting, ketogenic diet, and does international speaking.
